GoGreen Cabin

Our Cabin has been restored and upgraded ready for our first guests in June 2018. It is situated on its own private lake in the heart of the countryside. The cabin opens directly onto the lake and has a large decking for you to enjoy. There is an outside dining area and large beanbags for you to sunbathe on. A perfect place to enjoy the beautiful scenery and countryside. For the colder months we have a lovely log burner to make the cabin nice and snug.

The facilities include:

  • A bedroom with a double bed and small wardrobe
  • A hand crafted bunk bed (designed for both adults and little ones to sleep on)
  • A bathroom with shower, hand-basin and flushing toilet
  • A small kitchenette with a gas fridge and gas hob.
  • Cutlery and crockery
  • LED lighting
  • Bedding and towels
  • Gas boiler for hot water
  • BBQ
  • Log burning stove
  • Large beanbags for sunbathing on the deck
  • Outside eating area
  • Small trampoline, rope swings, rowing boat

The lake with the GoGreen Cabin is next to the Lake with the GoGreen Roulotte on it. The Lakes and accommodation are off-grid so we have no mains electricity. We do not have any televisions, DVD players or WiFi. There is a solar panel which provides enough power to charge any telephones or tablets and for the cabin lighting although you may prefer to use the provided wind up torches and candles.

The cabin is clad in wood from our own forest. We had to clear a few trees and took these to a local wood yard for them to cut into planks for us. We have then used them outside and inside the cabin and around the lake. Everything we have done at the Lakes has mostly been done by hand and been done using local supplies where possible.

Mr & Mrs H July 2018
We weren’t sure what to expect with our lakeside cabin. The pictures looked idyllic, we were looking for somewhere quiet where the children could enjoy being outdoors, but also offered a level of comfort. This cabin delivered in every respect. The lake is gorgeous, so peaceful. The kids spent every day and night running through the woods, rowing across the lake, fishing and building dens – no mention of iPads or tv. The cabin is incredible. It looks beautiful, but the details are so clever. A very comfortable double bed with plenty of storage under, fantastic handbuilt bunk beds, big and sturdy enough for adults – again with loads of. Storage under. Proper flushing loo, basin and hot shower. A fantastic little kitchen with gas hob, fridge and sink with hot water. Every possible utensil and crockery required, a kettle barbecue and plenty of space to eat inside or on the deck. The deck is a slice of heaven, giant beanbags to lounge on; a table and chairs for playing cards late into the night; shade from the heat of the day. It’s been very hot this week, but the cabin has been at least 5c cooler- a lovely breeze off the water means you never want to venture far. It’s cool and shady and so very comfortable. The area is fabulous too, little village fetes and farmers markets seem to pop up every few days, the swimming lakes are fabulous – safe clean and easy to entertain kids all day long with canoeing, swimming, play parks. Wonderful places to eat – lovely food and so friendly. Our hosts were fantastic at suggesting places to visit. Without doubt our best holiday yet. We will definitely be back next year, for longer.
